Class of 2017: Audrey Stanton

Sep 17 2015

Each year we ask incoming MFAD students to discuss their favorite work. Today we meet:

Audrey Stanton, Austin, TX

“‘Figure’ is a tabletop game concept and prototype based on the inherent shape of words written in the lowercase, determined by the ascenders and descenders of individual characters,” says Audrey Stanton. “Its components include a box with magnetized closure, score pads, a sand timer, an instruction booklet, and a deck of cards. Each card displays a sequence of three to five shapes which correspond to letter heights, and players compete in one of many modes of gameplay to find words that fit these patterns. A fast-paced and addictive game, ‘Figure’ promotes typographic and linguistic awareness in an accessible and playful manner.”
