Day Three (1): Mercati di Rialto

Jun 01 2010

At daybreak (actually a few hours thereafter) SVA Masters workshoppers took the traghetto across the Grand Canal to the Mercati di Rialto, where they also visited the Antica Drogheria Mascari (a spice store), and a merchant that sells carta paglia (rough ochre paper used in butcher shops). Afterward came a session at the Fondazione where they declared their guidebook projects, topped off with a gelato respite at Rosa Salva (exact change required) and stops at Aqua Alta bookshop (books are kept in old boats) and Mariposa Blu (a velvet shoe and slipper shop). This afternoon a water taxi to the Giudecca to visit our friends at Studio Giorgio Camuffo (“http://www.studiocamuffo.com/”:http://www.studiocamuffo.com/)
