Is the portfolio required?
Yes, a portfolio and an interview (in person or by phone) are required for acceptance into this program.

When is the deadline?
Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2010.

Is this a credit course?
Yes, 3 graduate studio credits.

How much graphic design experience do I need?
The more the better; however, final projects can be accomplished in a variety of media—typography, photography, collage, and digital media.

What kind of equipment should I bring?
A laptop is required to do the coursework. The classrooms have WiFi access, printers, and scanners. A digital camera is recommended.

Is there financial aid or scholarship available?
There is no financial aid or scholarship available for this program.

What is included in the tuition?
Tuition includes accommodations, Continental breakfast, workshops, transportation for off-campus visits, guided tours of architectural and archaeological sites, train from Venice to Rome, and all program receptions.

Are flights included in the tuition?
You must provide your own air travel.

What are the best flights? Are group rates available?
Several airlines have direct flights from New York City to both Venice and Rome. Everyone is responsible for their own flight arrangements.

Will I be sharing a room?
All rooms are single occupancy.

If I provide my own accommodations in one or both of the cities, can I get a discount on the tuition?

Do we get to pick the accommodations that are available?
Accommodations are based on first-come, first-served basis.

What kind of accommodations are offered?
They are three-star hotels in Venice and Rome.

Where are the hotels located?
All hotels are centrally located within walking distance of classrooms.

Are we required to go to all classes, workshops and visits?
Classes, workshops, and site visits are all part of the program and we expect participants will want to attend everything. The only mandatory attendance is the final critique where special guests will be invited and final projects will be reviewed for publication and production. There will also be a variety of optional site visits.

How are we getting around in Italy?
Transportation is included in the cost of tuition for site visits to Fabrica in Treviso and Tipoteca in Conuda. The train from Venice to Rome is also included.
