Meet The First Year Students: Jennifer Holcomb

Sep 10 2018

Each year at the start of the first semester we ask our new students to say a few words about one or more favorite projects. Today the series begins.

Designer: Jennifer Holcomb

Spectacles: A Look at the History of Eyewear is a museum exhibition concept exploring the design influences and technological developments of eyeglasses.

The design brief outlined a comprehensive user experience: environmental space, web and mobile presence, and an interactive exhibition app.

Spectacles’ visuals employs oscillating transparency, recurrence of circular shapes, and interplay of blurring and sharpening to convey the idea of vision without overt eyes or lenses.

The accompanying museum app lets users virtually “try on” the eyewear and interact with VR characters of the artifact’s time period.
