For the first of our 25th Anniversary Alumni Lecture, Julia Marsh (MFAD ’19) speaks about a nightmare that turned into a dream and a dream that turned into a product. The vision of an ocean full of plastic waste is, however, not an illusion of the future yet to come, it is real and all- consuming. Rather than succumb, Julia decided that for her venture she would discover a method of making a natural plastic substitute from sea weed. Since graduating in 2019 as co-founder of SWAY, she’s been raising money to turn the concept into sustainable material. Today she will discuss how her dream has taken shape and where its headed next.
