Patricia Sanchez Navararo, from Santiago, Dominican Republic, selected a book cover design for Nobel prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude, done as a student project for Lara McCormick’s (MFA 07) class at SVA-Continuing Education back in 2009.

“I really enjoyed working on this project; it is my favorite book and I never felt freer to get the result I wanted and to convey what the book is really about,” she says. “In my opinion, other cover designs for this title have been good but did not quite show the Macondo atmosphere, that feeling of being lost in place and time. Don’t get me wrong, afterwards I have enjoyed working in my later projects, but this cover has made me really happy. It in this class when I found out about the MFA Design.”
