Finale in Venezia
Workshop participants presented their projects for Louise Fili’s Venice guidebook class to a panel of guest critics including design historians, curators, editors, and graphic designers.
Projects ranged from fonts inspired by doors and dingbats influenced by door ornaments; postcards featuring type; children’s guides; food and the mercato; boats and the protocol for naming them; the tradition of lace making in Burano; getting a know the locals; learning the language through food; the color red; the “flow” of Venice; visual response to text for those in Venice the second time around; and the intersection of design and the Venice Art Biennale.
After expert feedback from the panel, we enjoyed a catered farewell to Venice celebration. We will miss the corner room of the Abbazia with the most magnificent view of the Grand Canal and the Salute church.
Now on to conquer Roma.
