Tech Administrator Ron Callahan reports on the IDEOPOLIS iPad magazine:

“Don’t tell my biker buddies but, the IDEOPOLIS iPad thesis book was actually inspired by Martha Stewart. During Adobe MAX keynote presentation last Fall the audience was surprised by the media magnate’s visit and was given a peek at her new magazine designed specifically for the iPad. I subsequently signed up for the beta program for Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite.

The DPS is a set of extensions and add-ons that provide a workflow for InDesign to create digital publications for iPad and Android devices. As the tools matured I experimented more. After a conversation with MFAD faculty member Ada Whitney we thought that putting the students thesis work together in a digital magazine would be a great way to showcase of their talents.

Another first for MFAD, the IDEOPOLIS digital magazine project will be presented at the thesis exhibition April 28th-May 14th Thesis launch May 5.

Over the summer we hope to release this as an app in the iTunes store as well as the Android marketplace.”
