This past Friday, first year MFAD students showed second year students the results of Allan Chochinov’s Garbage Project at a pizza and cake confabulation.
“Make the last thing you were about to throw out as garbage into a product.” The responses were ingenious. From Albert Pereta’s multipurpose bag made from old shower curtain, Derek Munn’s survival tea bags, Elisa Bates’ “Totem,” multiple stacking bags made from recycled fabrics, Elliot Walker’s taser-proof t-shirt, Sylvia Villada’s “Cinch Bag” from reused Ikea sacks, Tim Huklesby’s “Doc. Leaf” bandaids, made from, well, leaves.
