Art Kit for the Homeless
Nov 28 2011
With the aim of touching the hearts of 45 children in a homeless shelter in the Bronx, Samia Kallidis (MFAD ’13) designed an Art Kit, which includes a personalized coloring book for each child (character illustrated for a boy and girl) making it a book about them, and a list of art supplies currently needed by the shelter. (construction paper, markers, colored pencils, glue, clay, crayons).
“I wrote and illustrated the coloring book, and the story unfolds as each kid uses all the art supplies in their ‘magic box’ to create their adventure,” she explains. “I wanted to create an elegant but playful design, so I used handmade elements and hand-lettered all the typography.”
