Class of 2017: Michael Stone
Each year we ask incoming MFAD students to discuss their favorite work. Today we meet:
Michael Stone, Holliston, MA.
“This work was in response to the assignment of creating congratulatory print, digital, and collateral in preparation for Wrangler’s celebrity endorser, Dale Earnhardt Jr., winning NASCAR races,” Michael Stone notes.
“For a long time Wrangler had been generating campaigns around safe lifestyle imagery and informative product descriptions. Since this project’s communications were more so meant to congratulate Dale Jr. and not directly sell jeans, my goal was to create something of a very different style that still worked with the brand. Wrangler is classic, hardworking, and authentic. This gritty, graphic approach is meant to play within those values, and suggest a duration to not only the brand but to Dale Jr. and his family history as well.
“I think this project shows how I am currently interested in creating work that changes things up, tells a story, and emits a sense of warmth and authenticity.”
