On Thursday afternoon, Mario Fois and Mario Rullo spoke to Masters Workshop students at the Mario’s school, ISIA, near the Pantheon, about the work and philosophy of Studio Vertigo.

Rome’s visual and cultural background are factors that influence the work at Studio Vertigo, the agency that Rullo and Fois started in 1999. Vertigo design projects range from corporate identity to brand image, from packaging to advertising, from exhibits to information design. Yet the philosophy for their work, explained Rullo, can be broken down into the following categories:

Eclecticism

Clarity

Refinement

Essence.

Vividity

For over ten years they have produced trademarks for Valentino, Laura Biagiotti, Gucci, Bulgari, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, and Montblanc among others.

As Rullo stated “For the past six years Vertigo has produced a calendar in which six images address a specific theme. We set out to produce evocative images can lend themselves to different interpretations and in so doing arouse personal reflections.”
