Each time Scott Stowell assigns his first year MFAD students to design a portrait of a fellow classmate, the results are surprising and often insightful. This year’s crop prompted laughter, some tears, and a lot of love.

The project, designed to test conceptual skill, which begins with one member of the class assigned another (and so on), requires interviews, research and designing objects (films, products, websites, etc.) that reflect the personality and character of the students.
