Meet the Class of 2015: Najeebah Al Ghadban

Feb 13 2013

Najeebah Al Ghadban from Kuwait did the the following book series as a re-imagining of Jane Austen’s notable works of literature: Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Emma, and Mansfield Park.

“The visual concept takes the vernacular of Craig’s List, today’s equivalent of the personal ad,” she explains, “in an attempt to bridge the historical romantic contexts of the literature and the modern-day relevance it continues to hold. This exploration extends the design elements into the bones of the book from cover to interior (table of contents, chapter headings, text-layout), including an interactive motion trailer. As a head-buried-in-a-book-since-childhood dreamer, my design career will, without doubt, be married to the inevitable evolution of the book. In other words, upon my demise my epitaph will read, ‘Death by books.’ That is… if anyone ever finds the body.”
