Rome Day 8: Beware the Gulls at Trajan’s Column
Jun 03 2014
Dateline: Trajan Column, Roma
Headline: Workshop Participants Strafed By Dive Bombing Seagulls
Hard hats were the order of the day for SVA Rome Workshoppers on their exclusive visit to the Trajan Column with Dr. Darius Arya. This was the protective gear against the ravages of annoyed seagulls as they nested their young.
No one was pecked or soiled, but the threat of imminent attack (and embarrassing stains) was ever present. Still participants learned about the building and context of the huge commemorative victory column with the inscription that has influenced Western Typographic Tradition.
