To Fast Food Employees
Having worked in the fast food industry throughout high school (a mostly thankless job), Justin Colt (MFAD ’13) knows the pressures of the fast-paced work environment, dealing with difficult customers, and working the late nights. It is because of this, that he wanted to make his “Touch Someone’s Heart” project give back to these employees, that often go unappreciated.
“After casting, painting, mounting and silk screening golden cheeseburgers,” he says, “myself and a small entourage delivered the awards to employees working the graveyard shift around Manhattan.
The actual delivery process was filmed, edited, and available to view on vimeo.
Also, just for fun, I submitted the video and short overview of the project to CNN. Hours after posting I received an email from one of the producers with some additional questions, letting me know that they really appreciated my video, and that they had promoted it to an “editors pick” on the iReport section of the website. 24 hours after being featured on the front page of iReport, my video was promoted to the front page of CNN.com. It currently still resides here, with the title “Guerrilla gifts for late-night shifts” under the “U.S.” section. The view count it’s received is really exciting, and the comments are sincerely encouraging. View the CNN article.
