Type Camp Bklyn

Oct 21 2010

Ross MacDonald, MFAD’s Type Camp counselor, announces this year’s event on Saturday Oct 23:

“The SVA/MFA Design students will be attending a special version of Type Camp this weekend when they visit Woodside Press at the Brooklyn navy yard. Woodside is a working letterpress shop, with several flatbed proof presses and large platen presses. They also have large holdings of 19th and 20th century wood and metal type, as well as linotype, monotype and ludlow casters. They do every kind of work, from typesetting and type casting for designers, printers and hot stampers to custom printing. At the moment they are busy printing cards for the MOMA for the holiday season. Andy Birsh and his crew will give the students a complete tour of the facility and hands-on demonstration.”
