Thesis Futures is the launchpad course for each student’s graduate thesis trajectory. Framed as Thesis Futures, this studio-seminar combines methods from design research, speculative thesis futures, and iterative making to help students define clear, defensible thesis projects and feasible pathways toward their final projects. Over the semester, students will explore and research questions, map stakeholders and community needs, generate future scenarios that articulate the stakes of their work, and develop a set of low- to mid-fidelity prototypes and experiments that validate and refine their core claims. The course balances individual mentorship, peer critique, and practice so that students leave the semester with a robust thesis strategy, clear territory, persuasive prototypes, and execution plan that locates their projects in plausible, desirable, futures.
