The Exhibition was created to explore the psychosexual relationship between gay artists and their audience. Each edition includes photographs of a particular artist, one poster of the artist’s work, and up to ten facsimile reproductions of his notes and sketches printed on a variety of paper stocks. As Yichi Liu, who also photographs each subject, puts it, “The Exhibition is not only for art lovers, it’s also for artists lovers.” Liu’s photos offer an intimate, and often, erotic glimpse of the artist’s working process and other, more quotidian, activities.
